| I have a few comics that I think all of you should check out, if you
aren't reading them already. I shall link the first of each to you so
that you can get acquainted.
First off, I will point you to Minus. (http://www.kiwisbybeat.com/minus1.html) Minus
is a very well drawn strip that is as cute as it is humorous. It is
about a little girl who seems to have god-like powers, or a very
overactive and influential imagination.
Next is Three Panel Soul (http://www.threepanelsoul.com/view.php?date=2006-11-05) Ian
and Matt of Machall are back and working on a new comic. Not much to
say other than if you enjoyed their first one, you should really enjoy
this offering. Ian still plays with art styles so each one is a treat.
Third we have a comic that I recently found. Hilarity Ensues (http://www.hilarityensuespdx.com/index.php?id=001) It
is a photo manipulation comic by Matthew Robert Bowers. He gets a large
amount of feeling across from his actors and the smoothing he does to
the photos really adds an artsy feel. The story is about two guys
moving from California to Portland, and I think the characters really
come off well.
Fourth is Buck Godot: Zapgun for Hire by Phil Foglio (http://www.studiofoglio.com/cgi/buck.cgi?date=20070109) You may be aware of the comic Phil and his wife have had on the web for a while, Girl Genius,
and this is one of his older works that they have begun releasing to
the web. It is a science fiction story with plenty of comedy and fun
characters.
Last for this post is Templar, AZ by Spike (http://www.webcomicsnation.com/spike/Templar/series.php?view=archive&chapter=163).
The main story of Templar follows Ben as he gets used to living in the
titular city. All of the characters have very distinct personalities
and come from Templar’s many, many social subcultures.
Templar,
AZ is the longest of the comics I’m recommending today at 188 pages so
far, but the rest are all under 100 strips and should not take long to
get through. I hope you all enjoy my picks and let me know how you like
them. | | |

| So Pokemon Pearl is going well. I've gotten 7 badges so far, and I've traded with a number of people over the Nintendo WiFi. I even have a Japanese Chimchar now. In that vein, I have to point a link to Steve over at www.hmtk.com, who has been a help to me in the trading department. He traded me a Cyndaquil! Great guy. ________________________________ The Anime Society had it's fourth anniversary party on May 26th. It was a lot of fun. I baked a cake and we played Apples to Apples and Anime Name that tune. There was yoga going on as well as DDR and the eating of much pizza. In a surprising turn, the only thing that we watched at the party was the Ninja weapons episode of South Park. I hadn't seen it before, and it was hilarious.I set up a flickr set with some pictures I took. ________________________________ Last weekend I went to A-Kon with two friends, Virginia and Kim. We drove down to Dallas from Kansas City in Kim's car. She drove the whole way there and back because neither Virginia or myself know how to drive a stick. (I plan to learn though!)We had loads of fun there. I spent way to much time (and money) in the artist alley. I got to talk to the creators of some of my favorite comics. Howard Taylor, Randy Milholland, Jennie Breeden, Josh Lesnick, Jin Wicked, Mookie, and OMFG Luka. I bought books and arts from them, and enjoyed conversing with all. It was fun to meet and talk to most of them ,but I must say that I had the most fun conversing and interacting with Luka. I bought buttons and bitches, and even some neat things from Luka's table mate. I'm going to attempt to get the pictures that I took up, as well as a full blown Journal entry for the convention. Hopefully it will be sometime this week. That's all for now. Geoff wants to do other stuff. Check back later for more. | | |

I'm done with class for this semester. Now I just have to get through the summer and all until the next bit starts up.
Virginia has talked me into going to A-Kon this June. I asked off the days at work yesterday for it. I'm giving them a month of notice, they should definitely give them to me.
The saving thing is going alright. I've had a few extra purchases, but I also transfered $200 into my savings about a week ago, with still some leeway room in my checking.
The game last Sunday was a lot of fun. We spent a good portion character playing and then had a big ol' battle. My character (the cleric) had taken his armor off to walk around the town and was forced to leave it behind in the inn when the town was attacked in the middle of the night. It was actually a good thing, since leaving it behind allowed me to move so much more effectively around the battle field. Our long distance magic artillery knocked himself out at the beginning of the fight, but he came around just in time to really save our tails. He was unnoticed by the big badguy who came to the party late and fired off a fireball before turning himself invisible. But the mage was able to activate an ability that allowed him to see invisible people. Then were able to force the bad guy to reveal himself and be struck down by the party as a group.
It was fairly awesome. I may think about trading my heavy armor in for some other magical protection, but the extra points to AC are really nice. Such is the trade-off.

| From now on, I can only spend fifty dollars from each paycheck. There are exceptions, like emergencies and gas. Yes, due to gas being high, I am allowing myself to not count it in the $50 a week.
This means that for most of my food needs I will scrounge around the house, or really bargain shop. Let's see if he can do it, folks!
